Child Play Therapy
hope lives here
Play is our first language. It is the mode in which children communicate before they have fully developed language skills. Often times, children show us their feelings and desires through their behavior. This is generally a cry for help. We use play therapy with children as young as 2 through the age of 9 to help express their thoughts and feelings. Play therapy can be beneficial if your child is experiencing anxiety, abuse, depression, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, behavioral challenges, academic and social impairment, divorce, or trauma.
As a Certified Play Therapist, I’ll focus on discovering the feelings beneath the behavior and assist the child with finding the voice they need to communicate and, ultimately, bring awareness to their challenges.
We work collaboratively with the child and family to help with the behaviors at home and school. Working together is an essential part of the therapeutic process for everyone involved.
Common reasons for child play therapy are:
- Anger issues
- Learning Problems
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Social problems / Communication disorders
- Bullying issues
- Grief & Loss issues (including death, divorce)
With strong roots in Houston, and an understanding of various socio-ethnic communities and their struggles, we will work with your family to build a bond of trust with your child.
I’d love to speak to you, and address any questions you may have.
For children ages 2-9.
